In 1959 my dad bought a brand-new Aerial Square Four.
He had other Square Fours but this was his first and only new bike which served him well for over 30 years and from being a nipper to growing up into a gangly teenager I remember this bike very very well indeed.
Fast forward to 2023 and I am delighted to be able to offer an Ariel Square Four 1957 model (first registered 56) that looks almost the same as the one my father had all those years ago!
Supplied by pinks of Harrow when new, this particular example has been completely rebuilt by the U.K.’s leading restorer of Square Fours, Mr Colin Reed Aspley who is a good friend of mine and also lives only a mile or so away from me.
An older Restoration, everything on this bike has been done, crankshaft re-ground, cylinders re-bored, sludge traps cleaned out cylinder heads overhauled everything together with chrome and paint on all the cycle parts.
There have also been some useful upgrades in the form of a Morgo oil pump and the dynamo replaced with an alternator which makes for easy starting even when there is no charge in the battery.
Having covered 12,000 miles since the restoration by it’s enthusiastic owner , it is well and truly run in, shaken down and ready for many more miles for its next owner to enjoy.
Complete with original Logbook you will not find a finer example anywhere.
