My uncle Peter bought a brand-new Honda CB 550 K from Pride and Clark Motorcycles in 1978 for just £995! Sadly you can’t buy one for this price nowadays but this example reminds me of the one he bought new and is in truly excellent overall condition.
The 550s are much more manageable than the larger 750s and have just that bit more than the 500 so for the discerning owner these are are great choice!
This particular model has been sympathetically restored but retains much originality. In fact it’s original that I believe only the pipes, wheel rims and tyres have been replaced although the cumulative cost of those is in excess of £1800!
Another interesting observation is that the previous owner fitted a twin front disc conversion but retaining the original style calipers which makes the bike eminently more rideable.
