Yamaha RD500R RZV 1984 NOW SOLD

To be king of the hill in the early to mid 1980s you had to have either the Yamaha or Suzuki 500cc two stroke race replicas.

These bikes caught the imagination of all the Kenny Roberts and Eddie Lawson wannabes but were quite expensive back in the day and therefore quite a rare sight.

We actually sold these bikes brand-new and two of our mechanics can remember working on them almost 40 years ago!

This particular example is in first class condition throughout and belongs to the late Dean Gourlay brother of the legendary Lea Gourlay T’Z Yamaha racer and now go-to Engine man.

Having covered just or 6000 miles or 10000k  the engine has been completely rebuilt by Lea to an incredibly high standard as is all of his work.

I believe that the body panels are the original ones and not cheap copies and also the bike is currently fitted with Jim Lomas expansion chambers which alone cost well over £1500! Naturally the original pipes are included in the sale.

The bike starts easily and rides very well. this is of course the RZV variant with a hand welded alloy frame and is therefore lightweight and handles brilliantly! It will also soon qualify for classic motorcycles status which means that the bike will be MOT exempt and the road tax will be free!

Look at others that are on the market and I think that you will agree that this particular example is head and shoulders above most.

Please contact David on telephone number 01246 863 383.
