I have just come back from a test ride on this rather lovely Suzuki GT 550L model and it has reminded me what a lovely easy to ride machine these are.
Full of two-stroke character they are nevertheless quite a refined bike with an electric start, digital gear indicator and so on but they do have a surprisingly brisk turn off speed, much more so than it’s smaller sibling the GT380
The particular example rode in a very smooth way and in terms of handling is more lithesome than say a Gt750 or a big Kawasaki while still retaining a good measure of speed.
We have serviced this bike in our workshop, checking ignition timing with a dial gauge as we always do, balanced the carbs and generally give it a good going over.
With two keys and an owner’s manual, this very attractive machine has obviously been completely restored and it shows in every aspect.
