Matchless G12 650 CSR REBUILT ENGINE AND FULLY RESTORED!!! Now Sold.

For sale is this Matchless 1962 CSR 650 Sportstwin.

First registered on 19th December 1962 and supplied by Stocker and Shepherd Ltd of Reading,  it must have been a great Christmas present for its first owner.

These bikes are quite rare and sought after, being capable all-round performers.

This is a Genuine CSR (competition sprung road). It has the original registration number and matching original numbers.

The machine has been completely rebuilt with the following work being carried out:

  • Engine completely rebuilt (photographic record) with reground crank, new bearings, pushrods etc.
  • Gearbox stripped and checked
  • Powder coated frame
  • New paintwork
  • New wiring
  • New seat
  • New cycle parts levers, cables etc
  • New swingarm bushes
  • Front forks rebuilt
  • Anti wet-sumping tap with electrical cut-out for peace of mind.
  • New petrol taps and fuel lines
  • Magneto completely rebuilt with a new armature and bearings etc.

This bike is in excellent all round condition both mechanically and cosmetically.

The engine is particularly quiet and pulls like a train. The gearbox is slick and positive.

Currently the bike is running the optional CSR taller gearing which will make for a more relaxed cruise and higher top speed.

For the 1962 model year an uprated oil pump is fitted with a much greater flow which this machine has the benefit of.

The petrol tank is in good condition and has NOT been lined as there is no need to do so. This means there will be no peeling mess in the tank in years to come.

The engine was rebuilt by us in 2019 at a cost of approaching £2,000 and has covered just 50 shakedown miles since as the bike was purchased for a private museum at Mallory Park race circuit.

The bike still needs running in.
